About Creation Appreciation

“It all started with my ’89 Suburban, a dump trailer, and a gray dog that could shake straw.”

Years in Business

The Early Days

Creation Appreciation began in 2002 as a part-time business venture in the Afton area of Nelson County, Virginia. During the next couple of years, services and demand expanded to make Creation Appreciation a full-time, full-service landscaping company.

In the spring of 2005, Creation Appreciation bought Sunshine LawnCare to include lawn maintenance in its list of services. About that same time, the first four employees were hired, and they are still working with Creation Appreciation today.

In 2009, the company converted to an LLC, and launched a hardscapes division, headed by an experienced designer/installer, who specialized in hardscapes and ponds.

The Owner

Jeremy Jameson Parker was born in Oxford, England, and came to Afton, Virginia, with his family when he was seven years old. He graduated from Nelson County High School in 1994 and attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1998 with a bachelor of science in horticulture.

During college, Jeremy achieved many honors, winning various competitions and serving as president of the horticulture fraternity, all while holding a full-time job with Rockfish Valley Garden Center in Nellysford.

Upon graduating, Jeremy purchased Rockfish Valley Irrigation, installing commercial and residential irrigation systems all over the state. He sold the business to his partner in the fall of 1999 and became the head grower and production manager for Monrovia Growers (now American Color) in Orange, Virginia, which sells plants to major retailers across the nation. In 2003, Jeremy went to work with Chinquipin Hill Gardens, a landscape and construction company in Ivy. During this time, Creation Appreciation was a side project for Jeremy; however, in 2004, when demand increased, he was able to pursue his own business full time.
